Thick smog chokes Chinese citizens walking, biking and driving through Harbin

The airport and some public bus routes in the city of Harbin were closed, and classes were suspended at all primary and middle schools as severe smog crippled parts of northeast China.

Thick smog all but shut down one of northeastern China's largest cities, Harbin, on Monday, forcing schools to suspend classes, snarling traffic and closing the airport, in the country's first major air pollution crisis of the winter.
