China has a MASSIVE pollution problem. Beijing's pollution is EXTREME by US standards. And if you travel to the 2nd and 3rd tier cities inland in China it's WORSE than Beijing. You JUST DON"T SEE BLUE SKIES IN CHINA on SUNNY days. Pollution in China is so BAD it critically affects all other nations next to it in Asia.

China's rampant industrialization is an atrocity against their people and environment. What for, so they can have a so-called higher standard of living and more money and cars and s t u f f? Not worth it. Mother earth first.

China and Japan are the worst polluters in the world but who does everyone scream about? The U.S. of course. These third world countries are going to really @#$!%$# the atmosphere and enviroment of the whole world if they don't make some changes. But they don't really give a good $#!@#@ as long as they make a buck.

Reminds me of Denver in the 1970s... and yeah, some of it was naturally-occurring dust, but then how did the air here get so clean after environmental regs started being enforced? Anyway, China's real problem is too many people for the environment. China will never solve their environmental problems until they reduce their population... how to do that is the question. The one child policy didn't work, obviously. Maybe their next step is ensuring that few live past 30 or 40 via lung disease, cancer, etc...

We let countries like China, Russia, Mexico, etc.etc etc., into the industrial playing field with little to NO EPA restrictions. No wonder all these companies leave the U.S. Here we are regulated to death by government run agencies, while our government allows imports from countries that souuld be banned until they conform to our policies. Then we would be on a even playing field in the industrial game.

The government says we need to do more and more making our manufacturing overhead more and our goods more expensive. Why don't the Green people protest, boycott, and raise hell about all the polution that is created outside the U.S. Who is really scerwing up our enviroment now?

Take a good look; this is what the air in the U.S. will look like if Republicans ever get control of all three branches of government.

To all those who are so adamant that overpopulation is the cause for all the ills in the world: take YOURSELF out...problem solved. As far as green energy and pollution control in America goes, it will help for a time. However, we are not isolated from the world. Until every single country in the world take steps to improve air quality, or we surround ourselves with an impenetrable bubble, we fight a losing battle.

Sadly, it's not JUST Beijing or the people of China who suffer from the effects of extreme pollution, it's ALL of us, because that crap goes right up into the atmosphere of our planet, creating more damage to the Ozone layer, affecting each and every one of us.. But China, like most countries, feel they are an entity unto themselves and that they don't have to obey any environmental laws and they don't really seem to give a damn that thousands of their own people die from their pollution each year, to the government that's just a drop in the bucket of their overpopulated country..

It's a lot like the slash and burn technique that STILL goes on in the Amazon and Indonesian rain forests today.. The huge conglomerates that are behind it, including the big pharmaceutical and lumber companies, KNOW these forests will never grow back once they've been cut down and the ground burned and they are well aware, for humans to live on this planet, we NEED to leave the forests standing, but they don't really care because it's all about the money and always has been..

China doesn't want to spend the money to improve things and the government there holds the purse strings tight, so too, do the big companies, many based right here in the good ol' USA, that are directly responsible for the continued environmental damage being perpetrated all in the name of 'making money'.. If those damages cause death to some and ruin the environment for those living in the vicinities, well, so what? At least free enterprise and capitalism will be safe and sound, will continue churning out the gold and will continue giving those HUGE dividend checks to the already filthy rich.. It is, after all, what it's all about..

Population does cause pollution, they have to many people and cars. They are watering crops with ocean water turning vegetation areas to deserts. China says there running out of water because of globle warming, thats why there using ocean water. Nation Geographic tested water levels, past two hundred years it hasn't changed, population has, ten fold.

So by taxing US industry for emitting a far smaller amount of pollution per unit, we will save the world??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Maybe we need to remove all the BS regulation & costs that makes China the cheaper site to produce things & then ship it to the other side of the planet.

Dang those heathen capitalist Chinese, its the capitalist Republicans that are supposed to be blamed for the globes green house gas dilemma.

There is a thing in China also, its called 3 Forks dam on the Yanzee river, the worlds largest dam. When full it going to hold back over 3 trillion gallons of water. Scientist are predicting that the weight of that water being held back is going to slow the globes rotation down a fraction. I guess were seeing results of that already, since there are now earth quakes happening where they never happened before and where they havent happened for centuries.

The pollution that is in China is the same pollution that used to be in the USA. It went there with the jobs we lost. When they clean up they will realize they are no longer competitive and then they will lose jobs to someone else willing to get dirty to survive.

Looks like the Chinese need new environmental regulation.

Welcome to the industrialized world China... lots of people driving lots of cars, it's only going to get worse unless you out think your problem. You have lots of people and life is cheap in China... but if you poisen your air, and you are, you need to have a lot of land to bury them.

keep making all of those cheap products with no regulations. Its finally catching up with them.

Lets give gun control a rest and focus on banning all Chineese imports now.

The solutions are simple, really. If companies want to exploit people in other countries, then tell them not to bring their stuff into our country or put a tax/levy on imports to dissuade them from going elsewhere.

Better yet, let's make what we need right here and curtail our imports overall.
